To write a good essay is the most tedious task in every student’s life, and it is essential for them to score good grades in it. But the question is why students feel its difficult task or why most of the students get poor grades in it? The main reason for their debacle result is that they are not following the steps which are essential to follow for any students while writing an essay.

Following are the 5 steps of writing a good essay by which students can produce logical and well-written content

  1. Prewriting
  2. Drafting
  3. Revising
  4. Proofreading
  5. Submitting

  1. Prewriting

In the prewriting process, it is most important for students to get their thought on paper. After selecting the essay topic students’ needs to brainstorm and free writing for that particular topic. In the brainstorming, he can write every idea which is coming to his mind but while doing it is not necessary he will get only good ideas, he might get few bad ones as well but regardless of good or bad, he should write them all. The main purpose of brainstorming is to get as many as ideas he can think of. Same goes for free writing techniques as well in this technique he can write whatever he thinks about the topic without any worry of spelling mistake or grammar mistake, it often produces raw material but certainly a very useful one for your essay.

2.Drafting

Drafting is the process in which students need to put his ideas and thoughts together. In this process, it is very important for a student to measure all those ideas which he has written down in the prewriting then analyze it in detail as per the given topic and then write it down in proper sentences and paragraph.

Students’ review, modify their work by rewriting or rearranging, adding or deleting content to make it sound meaningful. You have to make sure that you added all the essential point in your essay as per the content, referencing and writing style. The main purpose of this process is to improve the draft.

4. Proofreading

In this process, a student needs to proofread their entire work and correct errors in grammar. They also need to check whether you have used proper punctuations or not whenever is required, and about the spelling mistakes as well. If there are any last minute changes have to make they can do it in the process. It will good for them if they took the feedback from their supervisor, this will help them to know whether they have written it as per the requirement and expectation of their tutor and accordingly they can make the changes in it.

5. Publishing

This is the final stage of writing process where a student needs to publish or submit his essay to their tutor but before that, it is very important for students to do those necessary changes which have given by the tutor in his feedback. Once he has done with that changes he can submit it to their tutors.
