College is where you can start a fresh new life and with new friends. It gives you a chance to learn how to do things on your own. You meet new people, make friends, and most importantly you stay away from home which helps you to understand and learn various things for the first time. It’s important to know a certain thing before you join College/University. It will help you in your life further as well.

So these are some of the important things which you have to learn before going to College

1. Make connections:

There is a saying “Build bridges, don’t burn them.” It means to try to make as much contact as you can. It helps a lot, from enjoying the parties to doing your coursework. By expanding your contacts you are helping yourself. And not just in your students’ life it will also help you in the future as well

2. Learn how to make coffee:

This is the most important and basic thing you need to know. You have to know how to make coffee to start your day without being relying on others to make your coffee.

3. Attend lectures:

You can skip most of your classes & still get the notes online or on powerpoint presentations. But you should attend your classes, it really helps at the time of making an appointment with your tutor when submitting the assignments and dissertation.

4. Find a balance between fun and work:

You should understand these grades are not everything. You won’t live your college days again. So make sure you enjoy your student life while doing your studies. Though they are important for your assignments and other coursework but for this you can also take assistance from an academic writing service, it helps a lot when the deadline comes closer and you don’t have time to work on it yourself.

5. Don’t forget to use the student discount:

Search your surrounding in your free time there are many shops, marts and movie theater which provides student discount if you show your student id card.  Make the good use of it, take advantage of anything free, You can find the number of things you can take for Free like seminars, discounts on food, etc… –take it all!

6. Save on your medical bills:

Take advantage of having a campus health care center nearby while you have access to it.  It helps you to save a lot plus you can also keep an eye on your health.

7. Do your laundry:

Make sure you know how to do laundry before you get to university. Though you will have washing machines for it, you should know to do a proper folding of cloths & ironing. It will make your life a little easier.

8. Learn to cook:

Making some basics things like sandwiches, bacon and tea/coffee etc: making your breakfast is the basic skill you should have. Yeah! you can buy your breakfast anytime, but sometimes it’s a good life skill to know how to make your own breakfast and cook your food.

9. Call your parents:

Everyone gets caught in hectic scheduled whether you are a student or doing a job, but giving time to your family is the most important thing you do. After all, when you are in difficulties only your loves ones check on you.  You may think you are doing them a favor by calling them once a week, but you will be surprised how much good it does for you, too. One day you will understand it!

10. Time Management:

College is academically challenging. For many, college courses require much more effort than high school classes did. You should know your limits. If you can’t handle 18 credits in one semester, it is worth it, in the long run, to slow down and take only 15. While the purpose of a college education is to learn as much as you can, that doesn’t mean studying all the time. It is important to schedule a time for fun and to take breaks to keep your mind fresh and clear.

10. Try to stay Sane:

As a student, you have to take care of many things simultaneously. Attending lectures, doing multiple assignments, presentations and also need to maintain the balance to your social life, too so it would be better of taking care of your mental health. Try to do some yoga it helps a lot to balance your stressful student life perfectly.
